The Rabbit, The Cat & The Woman in a new hard-back edition is now available

In the faraway lands where each of us lives, love comes to
those who follow the magic of The River Volta. When two
strangers - The Woman and The Man - catch sight of each
other it takes the cunning of The Rabbit and The Cat to bring
them together.
A universal story of people wanting to love, and be loved.
The text is brought to life with magical illustrations that capture
a mystical land where to dream is to live.
This republishing of the story comes in a new hard back
edition.
The cover has been redesigned by Susannah but the text and
her beautiful illustrations remain as powerful as ever.
We will shortly be producing the postcards and greetings cards created by Susannah from her illustrations
Elm Farm Campsite & Bike Hire between Porthtowan and Portreath have offered to stock the cards again - so do drop into the cafe there. Elm Farm is a jolly excellent place to hire a bike for the day and their 'glamping' facilities have won praise from The Guardian newspaper among many others. (Tell Ali, Reuben, Si or Leah that I sent you!)
Meanwhile take a look at the slide show below.
The Story behind the book...
"a fairy-tale for romantics of all ages"
"Last night I dreamt of...", well, not Manderley, and it wasn't last night but a summer's night a few years ago when I woke at three a.m. and into my head popped the line, "On the banks of the Upper Volta, where the river runs strong and true, lived a Woman who worked all day looking after her family, her animals and her house."
And two hours later I'd written the story much as it will appears.
Over the next few weeks I reworked some of it, added bits, cut others and showed it to some friends - one of whom (and I'm really sorry, but I've forgotten who it was. Let me know if it was you!) suggested that it would make a lovely illustrated book.
A few false starts until I happened to notice that someone I'd been sharing an office with for four years was a lovely doodler during office meetings -
"Fancy illustrating a book, Sue Lewis ?" I suggested.
"Hmm?", she replied, "Let me have a look at it."
And eighth months later here it is.
Originally the story was written for someone who is still very dear to me, and I'm grateful that she has allowed me publish it. It's still our story, and we're still on that journey on the River Volta,.but I'm sure that we're all, each in our own way, on the same journey. I hope you too enjoy the journey with The Rabbit, The Cat and The Woman.
